The Detroit Art Week display opening Friday examines exactly how we provide ourselves on dating apps — and exactly how we cope with the experiences that are bad.

Conventional isn’t the modus operandi at Norwest Gallery of Art, found in the Grandmont-Rosedale community.

The gallery’s latest exhibition, “ Tinder Moments,” dissects romance, intimacy, and modern-day dating via social media and dating apps as part of Detroit Art Week’s ‘On View Exhibitions’ series.

But, it is only a few sweet and cuddly exchanges. Asia Hamilton, gallery owner and curator associated with display, collaborated with Sarey Ruden, a musician and designer called SareyTales, to provide an creative deep plunge to the dating underworld. The ladies ditch subliminal messaging and turn the travesties of online dating into evocative, thought-provoking visual pieces with use of mixed-media, interactive structures and imagery.

“ we am maybe not usually the one to do a old-fashioned art show,” Hamilton claims. “I’m excited in order to talk about different things plus one which may spark the interest you didn’t understand that you had.”
